Two young boys drowned in a pool in Belle Glade, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday night.
Officials say they found a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old floating in a pool near Northeast Second Street and Northeast Avenue F about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Both boys were taken to Lakeside Medical Center where they were pronounced dead.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said the boys were in the care of their grandmother, who thought they playing outside in a screened in backyard patio.
Their grandmother noticed they weren’t there and searched for them for about 30 minutes, police said.
Deputies used aerial assistance to find the children in a neighbor’s pool. The children were removed from the pool by deputies and CPR was immediately performed, according to officials.
“It hurts to lose a loved one,” Leonard Williams, the grand-uncle of the two young boys, told CBS 12 News. “They’re going to be missed. Well missed.”
Authorities are still investigating.
