American Heritage Boca/Delray wrestlers take third in county

American Heritage School Boca/Delray put up a strong showing at the recent Palm Beach County Wrestling Hall of Fame county championships and finished third (251), just a half-point behind runner-up Olympic Heights (251.5).

Wellington won the competition at Palm Beach Gardens High School with 333 points.

Four American Heritage wrestlers on their divisions contributed to the finish.

Rafael Romero (26-2) placed first and scored 32.0 team points in the 152-pound division. He won the championship with a pin over Giovanni Deangeles, of Park Vista.

Omer Barak (41-4) won the 160-pound division and scored 32.0 team points, following his pin of Jupiter’s Ian Wolski. Anthony Nicolosi (35-10) placed first and scored 30.0 team points in the 170-pound division. Nicolosi picked up a major decision over August Batson (Atlantic).

Mikey Tal Shahar (22-1) scored 32.0 team points in winning the 195-pound title. He pinned Will Eltringham (Olympic Heights) in 57 seconds in the championship match.

Other top finishes for the Stallions included: Andrew DeSola (138) placed second and scored 28.0 team points as he fell in a tiebreaker to Jake Maffi (Palm Beach Gardens). Colby Uderitz (145) placed second and scored 25.0 team points as he lost by injury default to Seth Rhodes (Wellington). Philip Mathis (285) placed second and scored 24.0 team points.

Blake Seskin (126 pounds) placed third and scored 22.0 team points, while Christopher Johnson (220) placed fourth and scored 16.0 team points.
