The Boca Raton Little League 10-Under All-Star baseball team put up a good fight but came up short in its bid to capture the District 7 championship.

Boca Raton coach Doug Mitchell said the team practiced for three weeks with him and three other coaches and was pleased with their efforts.

“The best part about the all-stars is all of the practices you get before you play,” Mitchell said. “It was just a great experience for everyone that young. We had a mixture of 9- and 10-year-olds. And they worked really hard for three weeks and learned a ton. They got better.”

Boca Raton opened the tournament with a 5-1 win over West Boynton and then dropped a narrow 14-11 decision to Wellington. Boca Raton remained alive in the tournament with a 12-2 win over West Boynton. The run to a title came to an end with an 11-10 loss to the eventual sectional champion, Wellington.

Boca Raton received strong pitching performances from Case Mitchell, Christian Feliz and Peter Garcia in the tournament. The trio also contributed at the plate along with timely hitting from Luke Sauer.
