Boca Raton awaits new high-rises, condos and more. How the downtown boom is still surging.

BOCA RATON — Boca Raton’s vision of redeveloping its downtown is coming to fruition, with a thriving corridor lined with new high-rises, apartments and condominium buildings. Thousands of new residentials units have already been built and more than a thousand are still in development.

On Monday, the city updated the progress of the booming downtown area, including the addition of a new residential community.

Reve Del Mizner, a new three-story, five-townhome development at 200 E. Boca Raton Road, will be the latest addition to the downtown corridor. Just north of Palmetto Park by Northeast Mizner Boulevard, Rev Del Mizner will be built on a vacant lot that’s become an “eyesore” over the years.

Downtown Boca Raton has seen a development boom with a string of new high-rise apartment and condominiums, adding to the area’s growing skyline.

Stephen Timberlake, special projects manager for Boca Raton’s Community Redevelopment Agency, said Monday the city has 1,065 residential units and 164 hotel rooms in the downtown area that have been approved — but haven’t been built yet.

The city also has seen a rise in downtown office space, with just 85% of the available space filled out, leaving about 1.1 million square feet available for development, Timberlake said.

One of the latest projects, the Reve Del Mizner townhomes will range between 6,234 square feet and 6,641 square feet and will include balconies and rooftop terraces in each unit. The project will also include a 5,200-square-foot, covered-surface parking lot.

“I’ve lived in this neighborhood for a long time and that one piece of property has been an eyesore,” City Councilwoman Andrea O’Rourke said. “It will be very nice to see something developed there. I think it’s a good use and looks beautiful.”

Bonnie Miskel, an attorney representing the developer, said the project stands out “because it will truly be the only townhome product available downtown for sale now.”

Among the many downtown projects in development, Camino Square is in the process of building two eight-story buildings with 342 apartments and two parking garages at 171 W. Camino Real, east of Interstate 95 by the corner of West Camino Real and Dixie Highway. The project also will include two one-story buildings with 38,000 square feet of commercial space.

Less than two miles from Camino Square, Royal Palm Residences is constructing three, nine-story buildings with 48 luxury condominiums just south of Palmetto Park Road and one block west of the Intracoastal Waterway.

One mile east of Camino Square, Alina Residences added more than 120 luxury condominiums in 2021 and is in the process of constructing more than 180 luxury units on 9 acres at 200 SE Mizner Blvd., next to The Boca Raton Golf Club.

Less than a mile south of that project, the Mandarin Oriental is building 89 upscale condos and 164 hotel rooms and suites by East Camino Real.
