Boca Raton man involved in deadly crash that shut down all lanes on I-95

WEST PALM BEACH — A 48-year-old man from Boca Ration rear-ended a car that was broken down on Interstate 95 North, killing its driver on impact, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

It happened at 8:38 a.m. Tuesday, north of 45th Street, in West Palm Beach. Initially, all the northbound lanes were closed, but all lanes reopened shortly after noon.

The crash is under investigation. But the highway patrol’s initial findings indicate the car, driven by a 60-year-old Port St. Lucie woman, was sitting in the left travel lane as the truck approached from behind.

According to FHP troopers, the man saw the car, but wasn’t able to stop in time, and struck the back-end of the woman’s car. The force of the impact pushed both vehicles into the center lane.

The woman died at the scene, troopers said.

Neither her name nor the man’s name had been released as of Tuesday afternoon.
