Did you know that there is a resource in our community that provides new and gently used medical equipment and supplies to those in need, no matter their income level or insurance? I didn’t.

It was not until a fellow attorney suggested I take a tour of Clinics Can Help in West Palm Beach. I was a former president of the Palm Beach County Justice Association at the time and one of the other lawyers shared that I must know about this place that clients could truly benefit from. I took a tour and knew right then that not only was he correct, but also that I wanted to be involved. My law firm had so many clients who were denied medical equipment but needed it to survive and live comfortably. I knew in my heart there was more to be done for these clients and others in similar situations. Clinics Can Help bridges that gap, and everyone should know.

Clinics Can Help is a vital resource in Palm Beach County and throughout Southeast Florida for families in search of items such as crutches, hospital beds, wheelchairs, nebulizers and so much more. They provide access to critical equipment for thousands of children and adults who cannot afford it. They are the only organization of its kind in Florida and one of only four in the United States that provide a vast and diverse array of equipment.

Since that fateful meeting, I have been involved with the organization, serving on the board of directors, numerous committees and spreading the word about the organization to colleagues and community members, and today, serving as board chair. Nothing brightens my day like seeing someone gain independence and dignity from a much-needed piece of medical equipment — including my young neighbor who has received several wheelchairs over the years from the organization.

I am a Florida Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney and Personal Injury Lawyer. I have spent 24 years at the law firm of Rosenthal, Levy, Simon & Sosa, and became managing shareholder in 2002. Rosenthal, Levy, Simon & Sosa has been fighting for the rights of the seriously injured for over 35 years. I am proud to know there is a resource like Clinics Can Help right here in our community.

Clinics Can Help is currently celebrating 10 years of full-time service, serving over 15,000 children and adults to date. I encourage our community to learn more about the important work they do. I am confident we all have someone who could use their services. Visit clinicscanhelp.org.
