Cooler weather is forecast to dominate South Florida’s weekend as a cool front brings welcome relief to the high humidity and high temperatures greeting us Wednesday and Thursday, according to forecasters.
High temperatures Wednesday and Thursday could be in the upper 80s and low 90s, with the “feels like” temperature making it seem as though it’s in the 90s.
But then comes the cool front.
Morning low temperatures Saturday could plunge nearly 30 degrees, to near 60 and morning lows Sunday could dip to the upper 50s.
“The good thing about the cool front is starting Friday, especially, you’re going to notice it’ll feel quite a bit drier,” said Nick Carr, senior meteorologist for the National Weather Service.
“You won’t have to worry about heat indices in the upper 90s and things like that. And it should stay dry for a bit, probably about the middle of next week, really.”
Normally, South Florida’s low temperatures at this time of year are in the upper 60s or right around 70, Carr said. That means this weekend’s lows could be about 10 degrees below normal. Record lows are in the 40s.
The weekend could feature one of the last cool air masses we’ll see before the high humidity takes over in a month or so. High temperatures are forecast for the upper 70s and low 80s.
So, enjoy the break, South Florida.
“We should have a few good days,” Carr said.
