Sean Daryabeigi has high aspirations for his tennis career.

The 16-year-old Delray Beach teenager is gunning for a top ranking in the junior circuit and has given himself until the end of next year to accomplish it. He used to play soccer and basketball but gave both up to concentrate on tennis.

“I loved both of those sports,” Daryabeigi said. “I gave those up and started to pursue tennis at age 9. My goals for the short term are to achieve the top 10 in the World ITF Junior by the end of 2022.

“My long-term goals are to either turn pro when I graduate high school or to attend college to develop my game before attempting to play professional tennis after college,” he said.

Daryabeigi started the sport at age 5. He currently takes online classes through Florida Virtual and is a high school junior.

“When I am on the court competing it is like a war,” Daryabeigi said, who is currently No. 3 in the nation for Tennis Recruiting. “Since it is an individual sport, I treat it like a one-versus-one war against my opponent. I have a very competitive personality, which is what drives me to have this outlook on the game.”

Daryabeigi’s top performances include winning the 2021 ITF Grade 4 in Cancun and the 2021 ITF Grade 4 in Guatemala City. He also reached the 2021 ITF Grade 4 in Delray Beach and also the 2021 ITF Grade 3 in the Dominican Republic.

“I love that you have to take all of the credit or the blame if you win or lose,” Daryabeigi said. “I also enjoy the responsibility that I don’t have to rely on any teammates. I also love the mental and tactical aspect of the sport of trying to outsmart your opponent.”
