At 71, Delray Beach’s Marc Burns is showing no signs of slowing down as he recently captured his 18th overall state doubles racquetball championship.

Burns and doubles partner Bob Lerow (Bradenton) won the 65s title with a 15-9, 15-12 win over Moshe Mann (Miami) and Mike Boyar (Delray Beach) at the Posnack JCC in Davie. Both teams advanced to the final after going undefeated in round-robin play. Lerow was the seventh partner that Burns has played within winning the gold.

He also was runner-up in the 55/60s division with partner Herve Bony (Miami) after they fell, 15-0, 13-15, and 11-6, in the tiebreaker to Tim Hansen and his partner Ken Angelocci (both of Wellington).

“I am beyond grateful to still be doing this stuff,” said Burns, who defeated in the state singles competition in March in Sarasota. “This was the first tournament I played with either Bob or Herve, and I felt I had great chemistry with both players right away.”
