To help its customers learn about saving money, Florida Power & Light Co. recently unveiled its “Savings to Sing About” trivia game, a new energy-saving online tool.

Now through Tuesday, Nov. 2, FPL customers can play and watch Cameos from well-known artists while putting their energy savings IQ to the test. Participants will race against the clock to answer multiple-choice questions using the game’s interactive platform.

The music-themed energy-savings trivia game will feature musicians such as Kenny G, Mark McGrath, Chaka Khan and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Johnny Van Zant through FPL’s partnership with Cameo, a video-sharing website that allows celebrities to send personalized video messages to fans. The surprise video messages will offer energy-saving tips and help spread the word about FPL’s free “Energy Manager.”

“There are opportunities for people to save money…having a music-themed way to learn more about saving energy and things that you can do in your own house.,” FPL spokesperson Barbara Thompson said. “We partnered with Cameo to musicians to ask the questions. It’s a lot of fun.”

“We looked for artists that had a connection to Florida or that people would know, people would get excited about in order to engage them into playing the game,” she said. “We looked for artists that would have a hook.”

Every two weeks, up to 100 top players will be awarded a smart thermostat for their home or a three-month subscription to a music streaming service.

FPL’s “Energy Manager” provides customers a way to view the when, where and how of their home’s energy use and adjust accordingly to help bring in savings.
