The LPGA will be returning to Boca Raton on Jan. 27-30.
The Gainbridge LPGA tournament is back at Boca Rio Golf Club in 2022 after this year’s contest was held at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando in late February. Nelly Korda won the 2021 Gainbridge LPGA tournament, claiming her fourth LPGA Tour victory at 16-under-par.
Headlined by a $2 million purse, the 120 player field for what will be called the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio will be released at a future date.
“We are excited to once again host the world’s best female golfers back to Boca Rio Golf Club in January for the 2022 Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio,” said Elliott Wallace, president of Boca Rio Golf Club, in a media release.
“The inaugural event in 2020 was a tremendous success for the Southeast Florida community,” Wallace added. “We look forward to welcoming the players and local fans back to Boca Rio next January.”
Madelene Sagstrom won the inaugural Gainbridge LPGA tournament back in 2020, finishing 17-under 271 in the rain.
Sagstrom captured her first LPGA Tour title as she birdied the par-3 17th to tie for the lead and winning with a par after Nasa Nataoka missed a 3-footer on the final hole.
The inaugural Gainbridge LPGA tournament in 2020 marked the first time since 2008 the LPGA Tour held an event in South Florida after the tour opted to remove the event from its schedule.
The previous event took place at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach from 2001 to 2008.
Spectators will also be returning to the Boca Rio Golf Club, with ticket information set to become available at later date.
