The Miracle League of Palm Beach County has opening day ceremonies planned for its two fall seasons in Delray Beach and Palm Beach Gardens starting next week.
The North County league will play its games at Gardens Park starting on Sept. 23, while the South County League will play its games beginning on Sept. 25 at Anthony V. Pugliese V field at Miller Park in Delray Beach. Both seasons will last eight weeks.
“I’m so super excited that the families are coming back full swing,” said Julia Kadel, of Delray Beach, who along with her husband, Jeff, founded the league in 2005 and started playing games in 2007. “We have four full teams in Delray and two full teams in Palm Beach Gardens. The families are ready and the athletes are eager to see their baseball buddies once again.”
Kadel is expecting about 150 to 200 people at the Delray opening and it will also debut a new video scoreboard. She said the Delray Beach Police Department will be out to volunteer and set up a barbecue for all of the families. The Palm Beach Gardens site will be catered by Chick-fil-A.
Kadel said they are still looking for buddy volunteers who need to be 13 or older. They can be individuals, school clubs, company groups and athletic teams. Community service hours will be given out.
