Road closures in Boca expected to last throughout the day due to building fire

BOCA RATON — Motorists in Boca are advised to use alternate routes, as parts of Ocean Boulevard will remain closed throughout the day Monday after a late-night structure fire, police said.

The fire broke out at 155 S. Ocean Boulevard Sunday afternoon around 4 p.m., Boca Raton police spokesperson Jessica Desir said.

Monday’s road closures span Ocean Boulevard from East Palmetto to 250 S. Ocean Boulevard and SE Wavecrest Way from East Palmetto to Palm Avenue. There is no access to Ocean Boulevard from Palm Avenue.

These roads will be closed throughout the day, Boca police said in a tweet.

According to a tip sent to Sun Sentinel, the site of the fire was an abandoned condo building, where smoke and flames were visible for hours.
