With the rapid spread of the coronavirus in the community, one of the biggest growing concerns has been putting food on the table.
Broward and Palm Beach County Public Schools along with other organizations have teamed up to make sure that families don’t go to sleep hungry. Here are some of the organizations offering free meals.
Details: Farm Share distributes fresh food free-of-charge to families, children, seniors and individuals in need throughout Florida. The local non-profit partnered with Lyft, the driving service, to deliver food to those unable to reach the distribution sites. Bags included fresh produce, frozen proteins, non-perishable goods and bottled water.
Details: Anyone in need can access Drive-thru sites, and grab-n-go BreakSpot sites, at various locations during different days during the week. Times and locations change from a week-to-week basis. Feeding South Florida also has a home delivery program and a network of partner agencies who are open and can assist.

Details: Five-day packs of breakfast and lunch will be distributed to all children 18 years or younger. Franklin Academy’s Palm Beach Gardens campus will only be distributing meals during the mornings.

Details: As an online resource for the community, Together 4 Broward lists entities throughout the county that are assisting residents during the pandemic. With multiple locations around Broward County, healthy meals are offered from places such as food banks, Broward County public schools, churches and local government agencies.
Area Agency on Aging of Broward County
Details: Seniors age 60 and up who are in need of food resources can request a frozen meal delivery to their residence for no cost. Those who are currently not receiving any food through meal programs or normally have meals at a congregate meal site that is closed can qualify for this service.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County
Hours: Monday – Friday: 2 – 8 p.m.; Saturday: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Details: The Boys & Girls Club of Broward County will be offering meals for club members ages 6-18. Daily meals will include a variety of different sandwiches as well as healthy snacks such as cheese, fruit, vegetables and more.

Broward County Public Schools
Details: Free meals will be distributed at all Broward County Public School elementary, middle and high schools for age 18 and younger. Meal distribution times vary at school locations during the school day.
To increase access to meals, select high schools will be open for meal distribution every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 – 5 p.m. Meal bundles at Thursday meal distributions will include a total of 14 meals per week. All meal bundles on Thursdays will now include Sunday meals.
Adults are welcomed to purchase meals for $1.80 per breakfast and $2.75 per lunch.
Inter Miami CF and DeliverLean
Details: DeliverLean will distribute non-perishable items or fresh meals to anyone in need on Wednesdays at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Food will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis and will take place in the stadium’s parking lot for the foreseeable future.

Details: The Local Church and the City of Davie will be holding a free meal distribution for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Through Feeding South Florida, meals will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Details: The cities of Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park and Wilton Manors have come together in partnership with Feeding South Florida to host a COVID-19 drive-through food distribution event. Enter Mills Pond Park from southbound Northwest Ninth Avenue. Based on the available supply of food, the first 1,000 cars will be allowed entry and there will be a limit of one food container per vehicle. Recipients should wear facial coverings and remain in their cars and open their trunks when it is their turn in line.

Details: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County will distribute breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to all children under the age of 18 to pick up via drive-through style. Seven clubs throughout Palm Beach County will be handing out meals to children. Partnered with Fresh RX Kids, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach will also be providing a week’s worth of meals to entire club families. The Boca Raton and the Neil S. Hospitality Helping Hands
Details: Hospitality Helping Hands is supporting those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by distributing free meals at five different locations to laid-off workers. The free meals are distributed contactless as drivers are asked to roll down their windows or tell the helpers where to put food. Weekly groceries are also being distributed on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at 3950 Georgia Ave. in West Palm Beach. To apply for the weekly grocery program, call the number listed below. Services will conclude after Friday, May 22.

Details: The non-profit organization is delivering frozen dinners to homebound seniors on a short-term emergency basis. The service is available for homebound seniors 70 years or older and can be scheduled by calling Debbie Emerick.
Palm Beach County Public Schools
Details: Palm Beach County Public Schools will be distributing three days worth of meals on Tuesdays and two days worth on Thursday. Meals are free to all children and students 18 years and younger. Parents or children must bring a form of valid identification to receive meals. A facial covering or mask is also required.
